The Kickstarter Campaign is Live

Our Kickstarter campaign went live early this morning, and I couldn't be more excited. But there's a lot of confusion about what Kickstarter is and what it's not. So here's a quick rundown.

What is Kickstarter?

It is a crowdfunding platform. This means it is a place where creative people seek funding from the online crowd for their ideas and products to avoid seeking venture capital, investors, or loans. We get to present our concepts online and offer rewards - like a copy of Empower Me to Make Rules for My Body - for pledges of support. If the crowd is receptive, they can each invest a little or a lot. Kickstarter has an all-or-nothing model, os if we get 99% or less of our goal in pledges, the project fails and the supporters are not charged - no book. But if we get 100% or more support for the project, the supporters' pledges are charged to their cards at the end of the fund drive - for us, that's 30 days - and we complete our project and send the rewards out to you - our supporter! This means that you won't be charged anything until 1) The end of the campaign (August 29th) and only if 2) We meet our funding goals.

We will use the pre-order funds to set up and print a large number of books.

Why should you pre-order through Kickstarter and not simply wait to buy it later?

By supporting our Kickstarter campaign with a pledge, you will have access to exclusive reward items which will only be available through our Kickstarter campaign. Each copy sent out from the Kickstarter campaign will be signed by both Weston (the illustrator) and myself and include a special thank you note from us!

Right now, we are in the first 7 days of our campaign, and we have limited time early-bird rewards available for all of you!

Thank you so much for your continued support! We look forward to seeing you on Kickstarter!
